Schäflein receives ISO 50001 certification

Logistics is energy-intensive – we feel this every day at Schäflein. Whether in our logistics centres, with modern industrial truck technology or on the road with our vehicle fleet: energy is a key factor in our operational performance. That is precisely why we have pursued a clear goal: to make our energy consumption transparent, to understand it and to continuously improve it.

With the successful completion of ISO 50001 certification, independent auditors have now officially confirmed what we have been practising for years: structured, effective and strategically anchored energy management.

Why energy management is more than just an obligation for us

Energy efficiency is not just a trendy topic, but a real competitive factor. Those who consume less work more efficiently – and strengthen their position in the market. For Schäflein, energy management therefore means more than just meeting regulatory requirements. It is an ongoing process that shapes our technical systems, our processes and our daily activities.

Technical improvements that make a difference

Our measures focus on areas where energy is actually consumed in everyday logistics operations. These include modernising lighting and control technology, optimising the use of electric industrial trucks, and improving charging and battery management. Energy-critical processes are continuously monitored to avoid peak loads and use resources more efficiently.

Our vehicle fleet is also a key component of our energy management strategy. We continuously analyse fuel consumption, optimise driving behaviour and deployment planning, and look for fuel-efficient technology when procuring new vehicles. In this way, we are gradually reducing our energy requirements in transport while improving our carbon footprint.

The involvement of our employees remains a key factor for success. Targeted training and awareness-raising initiatives ensure that energy efficiency is firmly anchored in everyday life. What used to happen in the background is now consciously controlled and actively shaped.

Sustainable. Economical. Future-oriented.

The certified structure not only helps the environment, but also our economic stability. Rising energy prices and increasingly complex supply chains demand solutions that combine both sustainability and economic efficiency. A clearly structured energy management system helps us to identify potential savings at an early stage, work more efficiently and make our processes more resilient.

Energy management is therefore a strategic issue for Schäflein – one that contributes to strengthening our market position in the long term.

How we are moving forward

Introducing an energy management system does not just mean documenting processes – above all, it means making a binding commitment to continuous improvement. This is precisely why we are consistently developing our energy management system. Step by step, we are integrating additional locations, further expanding digital data transparency and examining new technological possibilities in warehouse operations and transport. Automation projects, alternative drive concepts and innovative monitoring solutions are also among the topics we are actively pursuing.

Our approach remains clear: we do not take a reactive approach to energy management – instead, we take a proactive, systematic approach with a long-term perspective.
